Last October we heard from our fellow retro game site, Rom Game, about a project which was a little nebulous at the time. It is about a musical tribute but also about resurrecting Future Wars – Time Travellers/Adventures in Time (Les Voyageurs du Temps – 1989) and James Bond 007: The Stealth Affair (Operation Stealth – 1990). The project has been delayed due to the pandemic, without taking into account the fact that Jean Baudlot, composer of these two classic games but also of other games published by Delphine Software, passed away in March. However, things are getting clearer with the YouTube channel creation on which the above teaser has been released and relayed by Generation Delphine’s social network accounts: Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Above all, Fred Ayato, the project lead, detailed on our dear Frédéric Gechter’s website the goals and the planning of this mission combining preservation and tribute.
The aim of the project is to release, for four of Delphine Software’s classic games, a remaster of the Amiga original soundtrack (and the Atari ST one as an added bonus) and a reorchestrated version (*). These albums will be free to download and copies will be donated to both the BnF (the national Library of France) and our association. Four volumes are planned to be released between November 2021 and sometime in 2023, each of them will be available in three different versions. A fifth album will be dedicated to our honorary member Eric Chahi’s masterpiece, Another World (1991) and therefore to its composer, Jean-François Freitas, his friend from high school who attended Chahi’s medal ceremony back in May. A complete Jean Baudlot‘s soundtrack album, including tracks composed for other publishers like Ocean, is also planned but will be unveiled at a later date. Finally, one of the goals of this initiative is also to revive the enthusiasm around Future Wars in order to see the birth of a remake or a sequel for example…

(*) Actually, there will be three albums for each volume: the remastered soundtrack, the symphonic reorchestration and synthwave-like covers. Only the synthwave-like covers will be selled, since the remasters and the reorchestrated versions will be free to download, and all will be donated to the BnF and the MO5.COM association.
